"Good things, when short, are twice as good."
-- Baltasar Gracian
My sister Cheyne is attentively sitting to my immediate right. We are sharing some tasty midnight snacks (of the sugary variety) and she is now peering over my shoulder, proceeding to critique and edit my post. She's 13.
*Chuckle Break*
Cheyne just asked me, "What's Earl?" My eyes dart across the screen as I attempt to figure out what in the world she's talking about. I see the blog-posting button she's referring to and I respond, "Um, that's U-R-L." She looks me square and the face and says in her snotty voice, "Well, what's U-R-L?" ( Now, she's offended and asks, "I have a snotty voice??" )
Now that I re-read that paragraph, I realize its just not as funny in print. One of those "ya had to be there!" moments. Cheyne is the comic relief in my life. In fact, she's the inspiration for the title of this post. She - being the smarty pants that she is - instigated an intellectual argument with me about the proper use of the French word, "Touche." Cheyne has just whispered to me, "I won. Write that down."
Any-hoo, life's been busy! I have so many exciting stories to tell about my most recent adventures! Unfortunately, 12:50 AM is certainly not the time... and sitting next to my biggest critic is not the place. So, to briefly fill you in on the latest and greatest happenings, the following is a quick summary of the last few days: A hair appointment with Jill - bobby pins are my new best friend. I spent time touring the Yakima YWCA's Women's Shelter and the incredible new facility that we're campaigning to raise funds for. This morning I hammed it up at the Sunnyside Sunshine Days Parade - I told all the onlookers that they'd have to give me their best pageant waves and applause in order to get some candy from my official candy throwers (aka my sisters and biggest fan, Macy Clough). It was a cheap thrill. I performed at the festival's carnival early in the afternoon after judging the Miss Sunnyside contestants in the interview phase of competition. After a brief siesta at the Clough residence, I was back at Sunnyside High School to judge the Miss Sunnyside pageant. Congratulations to the new Miss Sunnyside, Antassia Hammond and her Court on a job well done!
I have had a wonderful weekend so far! I have so many more details and memories to share, but as it is getting late - and I am growing sleepier and sleepier - I must retire to bed. Another long day awaits tomorrow. Rest assured that I have dozens of photos to upload and I have every intention of describing in painful detail all of the recent events. I wish I had something clever to close with... but I've got nothing. *sad face*
Sweet dreams!

PS: Cheyne has kindly instructed me to change the quote I opened this post with as it no longer applies. I had no clever comebacks... so I stuck my tongue out at her. She responded in the same fashion. Oh, how I love being home with my family!

An Album "Worth" 26,000 Words...
"If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera."
-- Lewis Hine
To preempt my tardy-er than ever blog entry, I present you with a peace offering: a photo album! Text soon to follow. I Promise. Cross my heart and hope ... well, you know how it goes.
Faithfully,
